Carver Medicaid spending on ambulance, transport services reaches $80,516 in 2024

Carver Medicaid providers submitted $80,516 in claims under the Ambulance and Other Transport Services and Supplies category for 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Medicaid Provider Spending data. This was a 5.6% rise from 2023, when providers billed $76,219 for similar services.

Medicaid, the public health insurance program managed by states with joint federal and state funding, covers eligible low-income individuals, families, seniors, children and people with disabilities. It represents one of the nation’s largest health care programs.

These taxpayer-funded Medicaid payments reflect how public health care funds are distributed throughout a community as billing patterns change.

For this study, each billing code was uniquely linked to a single service type through consistent code prefix and number groupings, which allows related services to be analyzed together for accuracy while preventing duplication in ranking comparisons over time.

Ambulance and Other Transport Services and Supplies held third place by total Medicaid spending among categories in Carver for 2024, amid gains reported in multiple health service groups.

At the state level, this category was eighth in Medicaid payments across Massachusetts during 2024.

Between 2019 and 2024, Medicaid spending on the Ambulance and Other Transport Services and Supplies category in Carver grew by $48,005, or 147.7%. Significant annual increases were noted especially in 2021 and 2022 as part of this growth trend.

Although spending for this category was spread citywide, most Medicaid payments in 2024 were concentrated within ZIP code 02330, which accounted for $80,515. Just one top ZIP code comprised 100% of all Medicaid outlay for this type of care in Carver that year.

As an example, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” signed in 2025, is estimated to reduce federal Medicaid spending by more than $1 trillion in the next decade, while introducing work requirements and higher cost-sharing that could cut coverage and funding for certain participants. These measures are anticipated to shift greater expenses to states and constrain federal funding growth, although Medicaid will still cover tens of millions nationwide.
