About 28.2 percent of the 2,543 degrees and certificates handed out by Bridgewater State University in 2017-18 were to students in education programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency’s National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Bridgewater conferred 377 bachelor’s degrees and 254 master’s degrees in education programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor’s degree in general psychology. Data shows the school gave out 261 bachelor’s degrees in general psychology, followed by 190 bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice/safety studies and 152 bachelor’s degrees in management science.

The university enrolled 10,990 students for 2017-18, including 9,504 in undergraduate programs and 1,486 in graduate programs.
