Bridgewater State University senior Jailene Escalera has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Escalera captured top honors in both the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash this past weekend at the cold and rainy BSU Bears Invitational. The Rockland, Massachusetts native posted a time of 12.59 seconds in the 100 and 26.02 seconds in the 200. She also placed second in the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, four inches (4.98m).
Escalera, who qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the 100, currently ranks fourth in the East Region in the event.
The MASCAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week accolade marks the first of Escalera’s career. She was also named MASCAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week in February of 2022.
The BSU outdoor track & field teams travel to Darmouth, Massachusetts on Saturday for the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic.
