Rep. Stephen F. Lynch, U.S. Congressman representing Massachusetts’ 8th district since 2001, shared updates on labor issues, community engagement, and public health concerns in a series of posts on September 24, 2025.

In a message posted at 16:56 UTC, Lynch congratulated local union members for their successful contract negotiations after a prolonged strike: “Congratulations to my brothers and sisters from @Teamsters25 on winning the fight for fair contracts.

After 82 days on strike, these hardworking men and women are back on the job, serving our communities.

I am always proud to stand with you on the picket line and in https://t.co/je7nbpAgWb” (September 24, 2025).

Later that day at 18:07 UTC, Lynch discussed his recent meeting with constituents in South Boston: “Had a great coffee hour yesterday at the Castle Cove Co-op in South Boston to talk with residents about my role in Congress and the challenges we are facing in Washington. We discussed the impact that harmful budget cuts to Medicare and Medicaid would have on seniors and working https://t.co/73oQS5HdP7” (September 24, 2025).

At 19:46 UTC, Lynch addressed statements by national political figures regarding medical science: “President Trump and HHS Secretary Kennedy’s attacks on science and medicine are irresponsible.

There is zero credible medical evidence that Tylenol or vaccines cause autism.

Medical guidance should be left to the experts—doctors and scientists—not politicians.

Lynch has represented Massachusetts’ 8th District since succeeding Joe Moakley in Congress in 2001. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both chambers of the Massachusetts legislature between 1995 and 2001. Born in Boston in 1955, Lynch continues to reside there. He holds degrees from Wentworth Institute of Technology (BS) and Boston College (JD).
