Rep. Stephen F. Lynch, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Massachusetts’ 8th district, has taken to social media to address several pressing issues. With a background in law and technology, Lynch has served in Congress since 2001 after replacing Joe Moakley.
On May 6, 2025, Rep. Lynch criticized President Trump for ethical violations. He stated, “President Trump’s blatant violation of ethics laws and exploitation of the Presidency to further his own financial gain cannot go unchecked.” He pledged to work with Democratic colleagues to hold the administration accountable.
The following day, on May 7, he acknowledged National Nurses Week by celebrating healthcare workers’ contributions: “This #NationalNursesWeek, we recognize and celebrate the everyday heroes who provide exceptional and compassionate care for our veterans, seniors, children, and neighbors.”
Later that day, Lynch expressed concerns about Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s involvement in a Signal chat discussing classified information: “Treasury @SecScottBessent has confirmed that he participated in the non-secure Signal chat in which Trump officials openly discussed classified military information.” He demanded adherence to proper security protocols.
Stephen F. Lynch is known for his commitment to public service; having been born in Boston in 1955 and serving various roles within Massachusetts politics before joining Congress.
