Rep. Stephen F. Lynch, who represents Massachusetts’ 8th district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on local and national issues through a series of posts on social media between October 9 and October 11, 2025.
On October 9, Lynch highlighted his participation in a community event: “Today was an historic day in @CityBrockton as I joined my friend and colleague Mayor Bob Sullivan to cut the ribbon on the new state-of-the-art Brockton Public Safety Building! Thanks to @SenWarren, @SenMarkey, @PlymouthCtyDAO, @Brady_Works, @RepDuBois, @marepritamendes, Rep.”
Addressing ongoing federal developments the following day, Lynch posted about government operations: “We are into the second week of the Federal Government Shutdown. I will continue to fight against cuts to health care, Medicaid, and other critical programs.” This message came amid a prolonged government shutdown affecting multiple services nationwide.
On October 11, Lynch commented on recent political actions involving military deployment: “Donald Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops against the civilian population is an attack against our basic freedoms and the respect owed to our sons and daughters in uniform.”
Lynch has served in Congress since 2001 after succeeding Joe Moakley. Before joining Congress, he held positions in both chambers of the Massachusetts legislature from 1995 to 2001. Born in Boston in 1955 and currently residing there at age 68, Lynch holds degrees from Wentworth Institute of Technology (BS) and Boston College (JD).
