Representative Stephen F. Lynch, serving Massachusetts’ 8th district in the U.S. Congress, shared several updates on April 29, 2025, regarding his legislative activities and meetings in Washington D.C. Lynch, who replaced Joe Moakley in 2001, continues to focus on both state and national issues, emphasizing civil rights and public health concerns in his recent communications.
In a tweet posted on April 29, 2025, Lynch expressed support for the Equality Act by stating, “I am proud to once again cosponsor the #EqualityAct. While President Trump tries to undermine the rights of LGBTQI+ people, I will continue to work with the @EqualityCaucus to codify nondiscrimination protections into federal law.”
Later that day, another post on April 29, 2025, highlighted his meeting with advocates from the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Lynch noted, “It was great to meet with Catie Fauvelle and Siobhan Ransford, advocates from the @SusanGKomen Foundation, today in Washington to discuss the importance of funding for breast cancer research and legislation to increase access for screening and early detection.”
Lynch also commented on recent actions by President Trump concerning the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In his April 29, 2025, tweet, he remarked, “President Trump recently fired 90% of employees at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a federal agency established to protect consumers from financial harm. It is shameful that almost all employees, many of whom are veterans and disabled veterans, were illegally fired.”
Stephen F. Lynch, born in Boston in 1955, has been a part of the U.S. Congress since 2001 after having served in both the Massachusetts House of Representatives and the Massachusetts Senate. He graduated with a BS from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1988 and a JD from Boston College in 1991.
