Rep. Stephen F. Lynch, who represents Massachusetts’ 8th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on community events and federal initiatives through a series of posts on his social media account.
On October 6, 2025, Lynch highlighted his participation in a local healthcare milestone: “Enjoyed an important moment for @BNHCbrockton this morning as we cut the ribbon for their new expansion, made possible by our $1M in Congressional Priority Funding, which added 17 new treatment rooms, including services for substance use disorder, psychiatric support, and https://t.co/B7VbhORbQP”.
Two days later, on October 8, Lynch attended a town meeting in Avon, Massachusetts. He wrote: “Great to see a packed house at @townofavonma Town Meeting last night. Democracy in action! Sincere thanks to Town Meeting Moderator Mike Nelson for allowing me to update residents on the impact of the Federal Government shutdown and explain why I cannot support Republicans’ https://t.co/SJJ8vBIJCk”.
Later that day, he announced an upcoming event aimed at high school students interested in military service academies: “Mark your calendar! I will be hosting our annual Service Academy Day for high school students interested in learning more about our nation’s service academies. Sunday, October 26th at 10:00 AM Braintree Town Hall https://t.co/WY3smtHYGN”.
Lynch has represented Massachusetts’s 8th District since 2001 after succeeding Joe Moakley. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of both the Massachusetts House of Representatives and Senate. Born in Boston in 1955 and currently residing there at age 68, Lynch holds degrees from Wentworth Institute of Technology and Boston College.
