Rep. Stephen F. Lynch, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Massachusetts’ 8th district since 2001, has recently shared his perspectives on several pressing issues via social media. With a background in both the Massachusetts House of Representatives and Senate, Lynch has consistently been an active voice in legislative matters.
On May 20, 2025, Rep. Lynch criticized former President Trump for allegedly using the Department of Justice to target political opponents unlawfully. He stated that this action was a “gross violation of separation of powers” and accused Trump of politically weaponizing the department to charge Rep. LaMonica for her oversight duties over the Executive Branch. “In gross violation of separation of powers, President Trump has politically weaponized the Department of Justice to unlawfully charge @RepLaMonica for exercising her fundamental constitutional duty to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch.”
Later that day, Lynch announced his initiative alongside Rep. Mark Green to reintroduce legislation aimed at supporting veterans exposed to hazardous conditions during their service. The “K2 Veterans Total Coverage Act” seeks to address these concerns following extensive bipartisan investigations that confirmed exposure risks faced by American service members. “I am proud to reintroduce the ‘K2 Veterans Total Coverage Act’ with my colleague, @RepMarkGreen.”
In another post dated May 21, 2025, Lynch expressed disapproval over a late-night hearing scheduled by House Republicans regarding a funding bill endorsed by Trump. He argued that such timing was intended to avoid public scrutiny while he remained committed to opposing cuts proposed in essential programs like Medicaid and SNAP.“House Republicans scheduled a hearing in the middle of the night because they don’t want the American people watching them.”
Stephen F. Lynch’s career spans decades within Massachusetts politics and U.S Congress where he continues advocating for various legislative priorities.
