Chief Paul O’Brien is pleased to announce that Officer Matthew Monteiro has been appointed as a full-time Police Officer for the East Bridgewater Police Department, effective Monday, Sept. 19.
Officer Monteiro attended and graduated from the Police Academy for Reserve Officers in 2007. He was then appointed as a Special Police Officer for the Abington Police Department from 2007 to 2011.
Officer Monteiro served as a Reserve Intermittent Police Officer with the East Bridgewater Police Department from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, he attended and graduated from the Plymouth Police Academy 57th ROC for full-time officers and was hired as a full-time officer by the West Bridgewater Police Department until returning to his hometown and the East Bridgewater Police Department.
Officer Monteiro graduated from East Bridgewater High School in 2000 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University in 2005. He received his master’s degree in Criminal Justice from UMass Lowell.
Officer Monteiro is a certified Drug Recognition Expert, Motorcycle Officer, Community Police Officer and an Outreach Officer with Plymouth County Outreach.
Officer Monteiro will be assigned to both day and evening shifts with the East Bridgewater Police Department.
