The ratio of students to teachers in South Shore Regional Vocational Technical School District fell by 1.9% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
There were 655 students being taught by 62.2 teachers in South Shore Regional Vocational Technical School District, which covers schools within Plymouth County and has a main office in Hanover. That’s an average of 10.5 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.
In the previous year, South Shore Regional Vocational Technical School District had 646 students and 60.2 teachers on staff.
Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.
