Silver Lake Regional School District’s student-to-teacher ratio fell by 1.6% in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Silver Lake Regional School District fell by 1.6% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 1,691 students being taught by 135.3 teachers in Silver Lake Regional School District, which covers schools within Plymouth County and has a main office in Kingston. That's an average of 12.5 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Silver Lake Regional School District had 1,698 students and 133.6 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.
